Alwyndor COVID-19 Update - 27 June 2022

COVID update and visitor information

All visitors to Alwyndor to be fully vaccinated from Monday 29 November.

20 HFB Awlyndor Day Final Selection HR 20

Dear Alyndor community - with the opening of the borders earlier this week, the instances of COVID-19 already emerging in our communities, and the associated escalating risks we have made the decision to require all visitors to Alwyndor to be fully vaccinated from Monday 29 November.

This is earlier than the state government mandate of 6 December and applies to all visitors except those with an approved exemption or under 12 years.

We have made this decision in response to these escalating risks and the desire to do all that we can to keep COVID-19 from entering Alwyndor. We also know how confusing all of the varying (and moving) requirements are so aim to keep our requirements as clear as we can with the sole objective of keeping your loved ones as safe as we can. Of course, there will be exceptional circumstances, such as end of life, and we will as always work with you on a case by case basis.

We continue to work closely with SA Health and have taken many learnings from experiences interstate and overseas. I am pleased to advise:

  • all staff currently working at Alwyndor (in residential and in the community) are fully vaccinated
  • more than 80% of residents are fully vaccinated and we are currently planning the booster rollout
  • we continue wearing masks at all times (& all other PPE as required)
  • we have screening protocols, hand hygiene, social distancing, and QR code rules and practices in place
  • we have introduced a COVID-19 vaccination card for visitors so when you give us evidence of your vaccination we will issue you with a card.

We have refreshed our COVID-19 response plans and have a ‘first 24 hours’ action plan in place should an outbreak occur. Our staff are aware and trained in the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and infection control processes. We have been assured of external specialised advice and assistance from both SA Health and the Federal Department of Health in the case of an outbreak. We have supplies of required equipment and PPE and again have been assured of access to additional government supplies if needed.

We are confident that we are as prepared as we can be and will continue to provide the best possible care whatever the circumstances.

Whilst we will keep you up to date I encourage you to keep up to date with COVID-19 related developments from an established news source as well as from SA Health.

As always if you have any queries or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us on or call 8177 3200
