We are very excited to announce the arrival of a new permanent resident – Lexie who has joined Alwyndor from Greyhounds as Pets on a foster-to-adopt program.
Lexie is a 2 and ½ year old female greyhound. She is a very sweet affectionate girl who is calm and well suited to living in an aged care environment.
Lexie has been trained and tested to live and interact happily with dogs, cats, young children, and people of all ages.
While Lexie settles in she will be located in Riddle South but then will start to expand the areas that she visits so that more residents are able to enjoy her company.
Lexie has a team of staff who have volunteered very happily to see to her care needs and training.
Lexie will wear a muzzle at times in the first few weeks please do not be alarmed by this, it is just part of the normal settling-in process as she becomes used to her new home and routines.
We also ask that residents, visitors and staff don’t feed Lexie so we are able to keep her fit and healthy and food reward-focused.
We are so happy to have Lexie as part of the wellness, therapy and positive mental health experiences from interactions with animals.
