Move and Groove will keep your joints moving while you have some fun at the same time. Come along and join in the fun while you dance and sing along.

Who is this group for?

  • People who walk with/without a walking aid
  • People without cognitive impairment or those who have mild cognitive impairment and can follow instructions
  • People who enjoy dancing

What happens in the group?

Your group class will be led by one of our trained therapy assistants. In the group you will participate in:

  • Active warm up
  • Chair based or standing dancing to music across the ages
  • Clients are encouraged to sing along to the music
  • Cool down/stretches

When is the class

  • Monday 2.30pm-3.30pm

Other information

  • Requires initial assessment with a physiotherapist
  • Group leader is a trained allied health assistant
  • All clients have an annual review with the physiotherapist (or more frequently at the request of the client or the group leader)
  • Clients regularly meet for coffee after the group at the Alwyndor café
Who is eligible for Therapy and Wellness services?

Therapy and Wellness Services funded through the Department of Health are for people who are over 65, no longer working and who have registered with My Aged Care.

Private services are available to anyone.

What do I need to bring to a group class?

For our groups, all equipment is supplied. It is recommended to bring a water bottle to keep hydrated and a towel if you prefer.

If there is something specific you are required to bring our Therapy and Wellness team will contact you.

If you are a private client, your private health care card will be required upon payment.

We request that all clients bring their Medicare cards with them for their first visit.

What type of referral do I need for Therapy and Wellness services?

We accept referrals from My Aged Care for funded services through the Department of Health. We accept GPs, medical specialists, other allied health professionals, carers and self referrals for private services.

Do I need to make a booking for therapy or group wellness sessions?

Yes, bookings are required. If you require an urgent appointment, please contact our Customer Care Team on 8177 3200 and we can do our best to fit you in at the earliest time available.

How much does a class/session cost?

Fees will vary depending on whether you are a private client or receive government subsidies.
